Open Campany Day 2021

On 30 October 2021, the 2nd Open Day of the company took place under the motto “Work & Training at Home”. Entrepreneurs from the city presented themselves and their companies and gave insights behind the scenes. The trade association of the city of Forst initiated the event with the declared aim of presenting the efficiency of local companies to the residents of Forst and at the same time to advertise for young skilled workers, because many companies in Forst have the same problem – the lack of skilled workers.
The Open Company Day 2021 offered young people the opportunity to visit companies in the industrial estate, to talk to the entrepreneurs, to make first contacts and to see live that companies in their hometown do offer good career opportunities.

Compared to the premiere in 2018, the number of participating companies has almost doubled. 66 businesses presented themselves on the grounds of the BWS to inform young people about the training on offer and to draw the attention of returnees and visitors to job vacancies.
Pupils in the eighth to tenth grades were able to find out about the opportunities offered by the participating training companies and institutions in four hours. Those who already had quite clear ideas about their professional future approached the companies in a targeted manner. This ranged from interest in pharmacy and numbers, administration and mathematics, sheet metal working, training as a bank clerk, metalworker, nursing specialist, to becoming an emergency paramedic. The range of offers was extensive and varied. It was impossible to look at all the companies in the time available. Those who had already thought about which career options particularly interested them were well advised.

For example, Metallbau Ullrich GmbH gave the visitors an insight into the day-to-day business processes, informed them about the training they offer as a skilled metal worker and the offer of a dual Bachelor’s degree course in mechanical engineering. Vetschauer Industrieservice GmbH answered the young people’s questions about the training on offer in the company, and the German Red Cross familiarised the young people with the professions of nursing specialist and emergency paramedic.
In addition, the Cottbus Chamber of Skilled Crafts could have immediately filled 120 apprenticeship positions in Forst with skilled crafts professions on this day.

Organisers and visitors agree that it is amazing what Forst has to offer economically.
